As of June 6th, 2015, the fastest High School time in the 400m is 45.19a by Michael Norman. It is also the ties the all time high school national record. This kid is incredible!

Norman, only a Junior, is poised for an impressive track career. He attends Vista Murrieta HS which is one of the top Track & Field teams in Southern California. Incidently he also leads the nation in the 200m with a time of 20.30a which is also a California State meet record.

His Coach, Coley Candele, says of Norman, “It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience being with someone so passionate about practicing every day, he’s amazing.”

The video below shows his 45.91 400m run at the popular Arcadia Invitational.  This meet has superb competition and always seems to bring out the best in the athletes who suddenly want to run their fastest times. There will be more than 540 schools, 28 states and four nations represented in the two-day meet.

At 6 feet and 160 pounds, he has schools like USC, UCLA and Florida pursuing him. His commitment to work hard at practice is a great example for his teammates and fans.

“At every practice, I try to work out to the best of my ability,” he said. “It’s a better feeling when you win and worked for it than if you know you were slacking off. You can tell the difference between athletes who worked hard in practice.”
